Theatre Goers (Alternating With Theatre Visits)
What does the course involve?
One week the group goes to a local theatre and the next week the members discuss the production in depth. They also receive instruction in the History of British Drama and the playwrights whose work they have seen on the stage. They may occasionally be required to do a written criticism of a play they have been to see.
What is the qualification and how is it gained?
A College Certificate will be awarded on request
How will the course be taught?
By observing suggested plays with certain objectives in mind By instruction from the tutor about plays, playwrights and the history of drama By occasionally watching videos with a bearing on the subject
What skills will be taught?
The benefits will be a better understanding of all that is involved in the production of a play, a sharpening of the initial powers of the students and the free exchange of ideas amongst them about the plays seen.
What progression routes are available?
You can rejoin the course, as many do, because the subject matter is often different. Some students have gone on to take university courses or other college courses.
What should students bring to the first class?
Paper, pen and cheque book!
Are there any other costs involved?
Theatre tickets are extra. The group runs a car pool to reach the theatre you go to.
