Is this course right for me?

This NVQ is designed for experienced Technicians who are looking for a Level 3 qualification. The course is industry recognised and covers activities related to advanced technicians working on light vehicles. This practical-based qualification assesses your skills and knowledge.

What will I be learning?

You be assessed on all aspects of - health and safety; engines (fuel and ignition systems), transmissions (gearboxes and final drives), brakes, steering, suspension and vehicle electrics (batteries, starting and charging); engine management systems, automatic transmissions, ABS brakes, power steering, suspension and vehicle electronics; Advanced fault diagnostics of all the above systems.

How will I learn?

You will be assessed in your workplace on your ability to carry out a range of skilled tasks. To show your skills and understanding you will build a portfolio of eveidence. Underpinning knoweledge will be checked through phase tests and on line tests.

What else might I want to know?

The suitability of the work placement will be checked by one of our trained assessors.

What can I do afterwards?

You may progress onto a level 4 Master Technician programme or gain Automotive Technical Accreditation (ATA) at Master Technician Level.
