Wood & Stone Carving

Course content:
This course is for people who want to explore carving and some sculpture using different materials, varieties of wood and stone, chosen by the student through all stages of design and work.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
-Explain Health and Safety requirements for the workshop
-Choose appropriate materials
Use hand tools safely
Design a carving project
Use correct finishes

Course Structure:
Each week a topic will be taught in class; students will work on their own projects with one to one input from the tutor.

Course resources:
The workshop is equipped with hand and machine tools. Goggles and masks provided.

Assessment:
Teacher feedback, Individual learning plans, Student and peer self-assessment. A finished piece of work.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
File or folder for handouts, notebook, and pen. Your tutor will discuss with you what materials you should use/buy and suggest suppliers.
