Who is this course for?
Anyone interested in entering the Computer field as a System Support Engineer.

After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
  • Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 3

  • You can read longer pieces of writing and understand the main ideas without help. You can write longer pieces of writing of 100 words or more.
  • Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

  • You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.


What qualification will I receive?
City and Guilds Certificate in Computer Systems Support Level 1

Where can it lead?
This can lead to further studies at NVQ Level 2

What will I study?
Subjects you will study include: Unit 111 Fundamental of Computing Systems and Customer Care, Unit 102 Dismantle, Assemble install maintain Desktop Computing System.

How will I be taught?
Most of this course involves practical work. Some units involve setting up individual PCs and networks. Other units focus on finding faults and repairing them. You are expected to access our VLE (Virtual Learning Environment)on to access some of the learning materials provided for this course.

How will I be assessed?
Each unit is assessed via assignments issued by City and Guilds

What support is available while I am on the course?
Support is offered through the workshop which will back up the theory work each week and this will prepare you for the assessments.
