Aimed at: More advanced office software users.

Additional Information: This course comprises four SQA units in the Internet, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation software and Databases

Duration: Five 40 hour SQA units

Location: Bridge, Easterhouse, the Colleges East End campus library and learning centre

Units Include:
  • Internet
      Develop advanced Internet skills: learn how to perform a wide range of tasks using Internet tools (including complex searches and advanced communications);and understand the basic theory behind the Internet
  • Word Processing
      Develop advanced word processing skills to the level expected of an expert user in the workplace: learn to use a number of advanced level word processing functions required to manage and manipulate long documents; and learn to create automated documents, and other documents of a type and standard that might be required in a business situation.
  • Spreadsheets
      Develop advanced spreadsheet skills to a level expected in the workplace: be able to use a number of tools to create a spreadsheet model and analyse data in a contemporary business situation; and demonstrate file and folder management.
  • Presentations
      Develop your ability to use a number of advanced presentation functions required to create and manipulate presentations using appropriate software: be able to use a number of functions including graphics, advanced presentation tools and presentation customisation.
  • Databases
      Develop database skills to a level expected in the workplace: be able to create a database (including a number of related tables), create data entry forms, extract information from the database (using filters and queries) and generate summary reports.
