Peak Performer

PRESENTATION

Peak Performer is a powerful package which enables students to develop effective study skills, improve their memory, and boost their exam performance.

PP is a series of 20 one-hour lessons which focus on understanding how you learn best, improving memory, learning with others and performing in tests. Accompanying PP is the unique personalised learning profiler which allows a student to assess their learning preferences, set learning goals, improve their vocabulary and build resources.

PP provides you with everything you need to run a highly effective study skills programme.

There are four parts to Peak Performer

-The first section is based around learning and motivation of students. Case studies of four students are watched as a DVD. Over the four sessions, the characters reveal more and more about their learning circumstances and students complete interactive exercises about the scenarios, offering advice, analysing information and giving feedback having considered and made judgements about each character's learning preferences and motivation.

-The second section is about memory. The students explore information about how memory works and look at different models for improving memory including visual, spatial, sequential, auditory and kinaesthetic methods and examples.

-The third part of the module examines barriers to learning such as anxiety, stress, time management and exam preparation. The DVD of the four characters then provides useful strategies and practical tips for coping with exams and pressure.

-Finally, section four personalises everything that has been learnt over the module and formalises it into strategies that students can use every lesson in any subject.

As a discrete module Peak Performer provides a summary of learning and motivation preferences and an opportunity to personalise this with the profiler and set individualised goals.

This is an ideal module to use in staff training to help with lesson planning and study skills. Year 9 and 11 students and teachers benefit enormously in terms of exam preparation.

PP equips students with everything they need to know in terms of skills and knowledge to take responsibility for their own revision and exam preparation in a thorough, motivating and completely user friendly way.
