This part time, two year course is aimed at those working in the engineering industry and seeking a progression route. About this course

Learners should have attained a Grade C or above in GSCE English and Maths and hold a related NVQ Level 3 or BTEC National Diploma. Mature Learners who already possess a third level qualification in an alternative discipline or Learners currently working/or with experience in the engineering field.

Learners will be assessed through practical and written assessments over a wide range of engineering disciplines.

This part time, two year course is aimed at those working in the engineering industry and seeking a progression route. Learners who want to formalise the skills already acquired in the industry or those wishing to re-skill or up-skill from Level 3. The course has been designed to meet specific needs of the local engineering industry by providing a range of higher level technical skills in manufacturing, procurement and management.


Completion of this HNC will facilitate progression to higher level roles within the Learner's own place of work. Successful Learners will be eligible to substantial module exemptions within the Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Engineering at South West College, leading to Year 2 entry of the BEng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Ulster University. In addition to this, Learners will be eligible to enter Year 1 of a range of degree courses.
