Costs and equipment Workshop/trips to various performing arts events will incur a cost. Approximately £100 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. However they are required to pay for books, equipment and educational trips/visits. Students aged over 19 on the start date of their studies, have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration, exam fees and for books, equipment and educational trips. Some students may be eligible for a fee concession, although in most cases some element of the fees will have to be paid. 24+ Advanced Learning Loans From August 2013 the funding arrangements for learners who are aged 24 and over and studying level 3 and level 4 courses have changed. Course programme

Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:

Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subjects, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.

English and Maths – Every learner will work towards Level 2 English and Maths (C grade equivalent). Learners who have achieved a Grade C will extend their English and Maths.

3E – Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training.

You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study of into work.

A series of practical based units with written elements.

Units include:-

  • Masks
  • Movement
  • Acting Techniques
  • Physical Theatre
  • Devising
  • Performance Workshop
  • Singing
  • Performing to an Audience
  • Performing Arts Business
  • Rehearsal

In year 2 you will develop these units as part of our in house theatre company called HUBBUB. You will also work professionally on a show which forms part of your major performance unit.

All practical units are publically performed as part of The Hub theatres artistic programme.

There is a written element to this course. This takes the form of research tasks, log books, worksheets and diaries.
