Course Overview
BTEC National programmes in Performing Arts are for young people already with a performance company or those who want to work in drama, dance, stage management or arts administration. The programmes develop the professional and personal skills needed for a range of careers either in, or related to, the performing arts.They also allow some specialisation from a range of options. This course is run over two years.
Course Structure

- Drama (modern and classical)
- Directing
- Theatre administration
- Technical Theatre
- Essential Skills
These subjects look at a range of performance and analytical skills, which deal with theatre, dance and music production as well as the organisation, administration, and financial aspects of performance operations. The course will require attendance at College for five days a week.
Qualification Aims
BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (3 A-Level equivalent)
Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessment leading to a final major project, which is performed in a professional venue.
Cost / Equipment
Students over 19 may be required to pay tuition fees.
Registration for students aged 19 or over at the start of the course will be approx.£110.
Costs of performance tickets, own costume or food, and travel costs to theatres etc. There will also be an option for an extended theatre break.
(Students may wish to have their own equipment for dance and stage make-up, but this is not essential. Set construction and lighting costs are met by the College).
Help with essential equipment costs may be available to students who experience financial difficulties..
