About this course

Students aged 16 to 18 must have 23 GCSE points. Students aged 19 or over must have: an Entry level qualification. an appropriate standard of Maths and English. related interests and experiences. All students will have to complete an audition to assess their level of learning.

Introduction:
BTEC Introductory Diplomas are practical `hands-on` programmes which give you the chance to explore particular subjects, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. This Foundation (Level 1) course is designed for people with an interest in all aspects of the music and theatrical industry. All classes will take place in specialist facilities at our multi-million pound Park Campus, which is a Centre of Excellence for creative arts.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year full time course will be held at Preston College, Park Campus, Moor Park Avenue, Preston, PR1 6AS.

Course Content:
This course will help you develop practical skills in drama together with aspects of other art forms.

Students learn about the theatrical industry as a whole and the job opportunities available.

Students will also take the NCFE Foundation in Technical Theatre as an addition to the course.

Assessment:
Written and practical coursework will be assessed alongside a performance. Two core units in the qualification are externally assessed.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course and a successful progression interview allows progression to the BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Music).

How To Apply
You will need to complete a Further Education Application Form. These will be available from mid-May.
Many courses have limited places so please return your application form as soon as possible. Following acceptance of your application, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
