About this course
You will need at least 4 GCSEs in the C-E range (to include English Language and Maths). It would also be an advantage if you have a GCSE in Science. You must be able to demonstrate an interest in the subject and a willingness to learn. You will
also need to have a course guidance interview and successfully complete an initial assessment test.

Performing Engineering Operations (PEO), Level 2, is designed to give you an insight into engineering. This course has a high practical content and will give you the flexibility to study electrical installation or electronics. This may be particularly useful if you are unsure of the career path you wish to follow.
The topics you will study include:
· Working safely in an engineering environment
· Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
· Using and communicating technical information.
In addition, you will need to complete three College based units, which are:
· Wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits
· Forming and assembling electrical cable enclosure and support
systems
· Maintaining electrical equipment/systems.
You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards relevant to the subject you are studying.

Assessments are carried out by:
· Practical skills tests
· Observations of you working
· Assignments
· Projects
· A completed portfolio of work.
