- Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2
You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
You will receive EAL's Performing Engineering Operations NVQ 2
Where can it lead?
You can go on to study advanced courses such as VRQ level 3 or NVQ Level 3
What will I study?
You will study how to working safely in an engineering environment, developing yourself and working with other people on engineering activities.
Subjects you will study include: Using & Communicating Technical Information, Identifying & Selecting Engineering Materials, Marking Out For Engineering Activities ,Applying Quality Control In Engineering, Fitting Using Hand Skills, Machining Engineering Materials, Maintaining Fluid Power Systems Maintaining Mechanical Devices & Systems, Assembling & Testing Fluid Power Systems, Producing Sheet Metal Components & Assemblies, Joining Materials By Welding, Cutting Materials Using Oxy-Fuel Gas Cutting Equipment and Using Computer Numerical Controlled Machines.
How will I be taught?
You will attend practical and theory classes gaining relevant skills
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by completing a portfolio of work which is assessed and verified as the course progresses

All students will be allocated a personal tutor. The colleges extensive learning resources are available to all students
