During the initial assessment period we will encourage you to take part in a short team building residential. This is generally subsidised although you will be expected to contribute to your own personal needs.
The Programme
The initial six week period is spent assessing and planning. All trainees/learners will have a learning programme
which different people will contribute to. This period will be reviewed with the trainee, Connexions personal adviser and the Key worker. The Key worker maybe the trainer, tutor or placement officer, whoever is the most involved with the trainee. S/he will then use the feedback to determine the next stage of the programme.
The Programme Content
There are many different ways to achieve your goals. You will plan an individual programme with E2E. There are a minimum of 16 hours for the first six weeks and then a maximum of 30 hours. There are different routes each offering you support into work, apprenticeship or further education.
Options are:
College two days, work two/three days (this can be project based in some instances). These college days enable you to gain your Key/Basic Skills and a vocational qualification. Work experience is in your chosen vocational area.
The programme is entirely individual and different programmes will be set with each trainees/learners agreement. You will have the opportunity to undertake short courses such as Basic Health and Safety, First Aid at Work and Manual Handling.
Progression / Careers
You will either spend a large part of your programme on work experience (two/three days) or it maybe appropriate to start your work experience with short tasters. The programme is designed to move you into work. Progression maybe:
Employment with training
Supported employment
Apprenticeship
Further Education
