Course review:

National statistics on the reporting of aggressive and violent incidents in the workplace rank healthcare professionals including nurses and care staff at the top of the list for dealing with day-to-day conflict including violent attacks.

Partnerships in Care's Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) Programme focuses on conflict resolution, personal safety, physical intervention and restraint.

This Personal Safety and Breakaway Skills course is specifically designed for those working in the health and social care section; in particular those working with clients who exhibit challenging behaviour. This can include mentally disordered clients, learning disability clients and dementia clients. Course participants will understand the benefits of individual personal safety awareness when interacting with a potentially aggressive or violent individual. It gives credible instruction on appropriate physical disengagement skills which promote best practice for both staff members and the client.

The PiC Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) programme has been written by experts using General Services Association (GSA) approved techniques. The programme is in operation across all of PiC's 23 units in the UK. GSA techniques are also used in other private and public sector organisations.
