Hear from one of our students about studying Philosophy & Ethics at Liverpool Hope.
This subject explores the bigger questions of life and morality. It challenges the concept of right and wrong whilst critically examining the ethical constructs from Universalism and Utilitarianism to Kantian Ethics.
Philosophy and Ethics allows you to set foundations in philosophical and ethical thinking and then gain more detailed knowledge in the areas of Continental Philosophy and the Philosophy of Religion; Ethical and Political Philosophy.
In the final year, attention is paid to Faith, Reason and Postmodernity, and Ethics and Personhood. Religion and Philosophy provides students with a broad knowledge and understanding of six major world religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam); the philosophical approach to religion; and religious and philosophical approaches to truth.
The department is run by critical scholars who lead philosophical thinking through international research and through authoring key texts and monographs. This course will equip you with the intellectual skills and perspectives needed to face the ethical and ideological challenges of the contemporary world.
