How will I be assessed?
In unit form - units are assessed throughout each year (four in total) internally marked and externally moderated at the end of the course. This will consist of coursework portfolio (units 1 and 3), and externally set assignments, (units 2 and 4).
What can I do afterwards?
Many students progress to a one year Art and Design Foundation before specialisation on BA degree courses in Photography, Film and Multimedia. Some students apply directly to university degree courses (including the two year Foundation Degree), in Photography, Media Production or Media Arts. Some students apply to do the BTEC national certificate in photography for one year, as preparation for a degree. All HE progression is dependent on high grades and a good portfolio. Some students go in to employment in photography but a major benefit of studying this subject is the acquisition of a visual awareness and the opportunity to be a practitioner in image making as well as being a consumer.
Are there any additional costs involved?
Materials £70 for AS, £70 for A2. Gallery and Museum visits £20 per year. Students will also have to supply their own 35mm SLR Camera and it is recommended that all students have access to a digital camera.
