The BA (Hons) Photography aims to develop practical photography skills while embracing the wider skills associated with a lifelong career in the Creative Arts industry. The first year will see you explore the fundamental principles of photography while in the second year you will develop your skills through a wide variety of live, professional briefs. The third, final year represents the culmination of your creativity and skill as you set about producing a highly individual body of work, directed by the areas of work you intend to enter upon graduation.

The first year will see you concentrate on developing a visual language and conceptual thinking, whilst exploring the fundamental principles of the craft of photography. You will be able to negotiate your own personal direction, and we strongly encourage you to explore, experiment and take risks.

Year 2 - Level 5 - 120 credits

During the second year you will develop your skills further and apply your chosen direction to a wider range of subjects. The broad nature of this year will provide you with many potential routes for investigation, including working on live, professional briefs. A work experience placement is also undertaken.

The third, final year represents the culmination of your creativity and skill and you will produce a highly individual body of work that draws on the risks and challenges you explored in the first two years. The work is directed by your own ideas and the areas of work you will be looking to enter when you graduate.
