A basic understanding of Photography and some previous experience / practice is desirable but no formal qualifications are necessarily required.

About the course:
This course will cover techniques, equipment and materials relating to film and digital photography. And the specialist units covered in this program will begin to prepare you with skills required to develop careers within the photography and related industries, as well as provide a pathway into Higher Education to further your studies.

The college offers both digital and analogue technologies to enable students a wide variety of learning opportunities to ensure a broad base of understanding. Black & white film processing and printing and digital colour using CAD for printing and presentation will be explored during this course within a variety of specialist units. using the specialist large spacious photography studios.

Students progress to University, the work place and Industry.

Learning Style:
Classes take place in specifically designed studios and involve a range of activities including group and individual work.

Equipment Requirements:
A 35mm film and or digital SLR camera is essential for any student wanting to achieve this qualification. Jessops, and London Camera Exchange are good local providers of new and some second-hand cameras. Advice regarding any purchase can be forwarded to Sudhir Sood you are also advised to purchase a USB Memory stick of 1Gb or more.

Assessment:
This program is assessed through coursework submission of all units required. This will require written work and research to be undertaken, but the course is substantially practical based work.

Progression:
Local job opportunities can be taken on successful completion of this course. This can involve local retail, and entry level employment in the photography industry.

Additional Information:
You will require a folder to store handouts and folio to store and carry images. You will need to provide some basic art equipment as well as your own B&W film. Full details of small equipment will be discussed during the course.

Attendance is required for each class for continuity and to enable work to be fully completed. You may wish to do additional work to develop your ideas or work beyond the taught lessons.
