Context will also be a key aspect of this qualification where you will study cultural history that informs current thought and debate within art, craft and design. The emphasis will be on research and study skills where you will acquire source material and knowledge.

You will develop your knowledge of visual language through the evaluation of the work of other artists, craft workers and designers and interpret the meanings and messages from particular art and design movements and also in the work of individual artists, craft workers and designers in and outside the world of photography.

You will experiment with a range of traditional and non-traditional materials and processes including digital image processing, and you will begin to understand the theoretical and practical knowledge of historical and contemporary ideas in your own work. Your projects will also have a professional context, and will allow you to present and promote a portfolio of work to professional standards.
