Course structure

Week 1: Navigating the Photoshop interface. Scanning, opening and saving drawings or paintings in different formats. Basics of adjusting and cleaning up an image.
Week 2: Using layers and various tools to adjust and alter composition of a scanned painting and build up a simple image from separate scanned elements.
Week 3: Scanning black and white line drawings and using them to create block colour elements on separate layers in order to build a completed illustration from them.
Week 4: Materials 1: Create a collaged illustration using digital photographs.
Week 5: Materials 2: Students work individually on their own projects with me providing one on one tuition.
Week 6: Students work individually on their own projects with me providing one on one tuition. Group Critique.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
  • navigate Adobe Photoshop and have an overview of it’s main functions
  • save files in various formats
  • scan and clean up a drawing or painting
  • use Photoshop to create a photo collage illustration
  • use Photoshop to create a colour illustration created from scanned line drawings or paintings
