Course programme
This course teaches the key elements of physical education and community sports coaching, with a particular emphasis on football coaching. There are excellent opportunities to develop practical coaching skills and experience through work placements in partnership with Arsenal in the Community. You’ll also develop an understanding of the requirements of working with the educational and sports coaching sectors and gain valuable experience of coaching sport within schools.
Tailored to provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience to pursue careers in education and/or sports coaching, the course works in partnership with Arsenal FC, Access to Sports and 1st4Sport, supporting you to achieve a range of qualifications (including 1st4Sport Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport) to enable you to thrive in your professional careers.
For one afternoon per week, you will coach children in schools, organised by Arsenal in the Community. You will also take part in lectures, practical sessions, project work and tutorials. You’ll learn from an experienced course team with expertise in many aspects of football and community sports coaching, and will work in a multi-purpose sports hall, sports science gym and on an astroturf pitch.
