What does the course involve?
The Physical Education AS level involves the study of theoretical and practical aspects of Physical Education. It is taught as far as possible in a practical manner although theoretical aspects are classroom based. It is a one year course designed to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills. Students should note the increased theoretical aspects which are significantly greater than that of the GCSE course.
Due to the practical nature of the course and assessment, it is expected that students should have an active involvement in sports (eg be a member of a sports club - performer or coach, or competing on a regular basis).

Progression from this course
This course prepares students to apply to higher education courses and will support entry into employment. It provides an opportunity to progress into physical education, fitness instruction and coaching, sports development and sports and leisure management.
