How is it assessed?
Assessment is by both exam (50%) and coursework (50%). For coursework, in each year you carry out both practical and written work, although practical assessment only counts for approximately 14% of the total assessment. The practical elements of the coursework can involve being a performer, leader or official; for AS you need to be assessed in two roles and for A2 in one role. These roles can be in one or more sports. We are usually able to accommodate the sports of your choice but everyone has to be assessed in one of athletics, volleyball and badminton. You sit the exam unit in June.
Course duration
One year at AS level. One year at A2 level.
