Physical Theatre is now the most dynamic and innovative form of live theatre and continues to shift and evolve. This course is a practical training in the skills necessary to become an effective performer and practitioner in this ground breaking performance discipline. You will perfect your skills in acting, dance and circus to enable you to create the next wave of physical theatre. The course includes Contemporary Dance, Circus Acrobatics and Aerial, Singing, Physical Theatre and Acting. It also acts as a great introduction into site specific performance as most of the performances are in non-traditional theatre settings.

Movement in Performance You will develop skills in Shakespeare, contemporary theatre, Physical Theatre, contemporary dance, Circus Acrobatics, Circus Aerial,Singing, plus much more. The course gives you the opportunity to work on the disciplines you believe need the work as well as areas of strength. You will also work alongside a technical team, costume, hair and make-up artists and other courses that provide expertise beneficial to your Physical Theatre course. The majority of the course is delivered at Park Lane Campus. However, Circus Aerial requires specialist equipment and facilities off campus. We often take part in workshops West Yorkshire Playhouse. 5 GCSEs A*-C, including English. A level 2 First Diploma at Merit or above and including a GCSE grade C in English or a level 2 Functional Skill in English. An audition is compulsory for entrance onto this course, where you must prepare one Acting monologue of your choice and take part in a contemporary dance workshop’ plus fitness workout. Our Physical Theatre graduates are currently in a range of continued education and employment including: Central School of Speech and Drama, Bristol Old Vic, Laine, Manchester Met, The Arden School of Theatre, Royal Scottish, East 15 and Mountview as well as various top universities around the UK and abroad. We also have previous students working within the industry on television, radio and of course Physical Theatre. If you are aged 19 or over and considering enrolling on a further education course at Level 3 or above, you may be entitled to an Advanced Learner Loan to help with course fees.
