Course programme

Plastering
At the DIY and Building Skills Training Centre our courses are suitable for people with no experience as well as people with some experience who want to be able to plaster more professionally. On this course you will receive expert training which is given in small groups. You will receive ample individual attention from our tutor. Each course is designed so that you will comfortably be able to complete each day's task woth as much help as you may require.

On our 5-day Intensive Plastering course you will be taught:

  • Health and Safety

  • About the tools you need to complete a plastering task

  • The correct way to handle a hawk and trowel

  • The correct consistency of plastering materials

  • The correct application of metal beads and trims to form corners, window reveals etc

  • How and when to apply PVA in preparation for plaster

  • To apply finishing plaster to walls  and bring to a good finish ready for decorating

  • To apply finishing plaster to ceilings and bring to a good finish

  • To apply backing plaster to walls and bring to a flat finish ready for skimming with finishing plaster

  • To apply render to masonry walls and bring to a good finish ready for decorating

  • How  to patch holes in plasterboard and bring to a good finish
