Plastering Course
 
The 5 day plastering course is very intensive and practical based. 
 
You will cover the following units:
 
 
· Measure and cut plaster boards and understand the different plaster boards available i.e. acoustic, fire, moisture, thermal, impact, standard. 
 
· Fixing plaster boards to solid walls using dot and dab techniques, fixing plaster boards to stud walls, fixing plaster boards to ceilings. 
 
· Apply plaster to plasterboards — realistic sized walls 2.4m high by 3m including internal and external angles. 
 
· Apply plaster to previously plastered walls — realistic sized walls 2.4m high by 3m including internal and external angles. 
 
· Apply plaster to a ceiling — ceiling is 2.4m off the floor.
 
· Patch and repair walls and ceilings. 
 
· Preparations required prior to plastering and different backgrounds that will require plastering. 
 
· Floating techniques. 
 
· Identify and use a range of tools and equipment used in plastering. 
 
· Identify and use a range of materials used in plastering including bonding, multi finish, different beads, PVA and Thistle Bond-It. 
 
· Understanding products used for plastering, their suitable uses, terminology and jargon used. 
 
· Understanding the different methods used to price jobs, dealing with customers and overcoming problems that may arise. 
 
· Supporting information on business start-up.
