Description
The Level 3 NVQ in Playwork is a qualification for those working at a supervisory level either as deputies or managers of play settings catering for children aged between 4 and 16. Eligible roles include senior playworker, assistant manager of a playwork facility, creche managers, after school play club managers and youth club managers.
Qualification overview
The NVQ is a skills benchmark. Achieving Level 3 is an assurance to current and future employers that skills are up-to-date and at the necessary level. The award can lead to career advancement/wage increase with recognition and official accreditation, as well as a chance to meet and network with fellow childcare professionals. The qualification is structured to allow the candidate to work at their own pace, with their own assessor during working hours.
Timescale
3 to 18 months, dependent on the individual candidates competencies.

Assessment
Assessment is through direct observation within a play setting combined with inspection of supplementary evidence by the assessor. The candidate is required to complete all 5 core units and 4 optional units to gain the full award.
