What are the entry requirements?
Level 2 Certificate in Plumbing studies and NVQ level 2 in Plumbing.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
  • Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2

  • You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
  • Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

  • You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.


What qualification will I receive?
City & Guilds 6129 Certificate in Basic Plumbing Level 3, an NVQ level 3 in Plumbing and Level 2 Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication. You will also receive a full Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate from the Sector Skills Council.

Where can it lead?
You will be fully qualified as a plumber by the end of the course.

What will I study?
The course consists of 50% practical and 50% theoretical and will cover the following subjects: Sanitation, Hot and Cold Water Supply, Hot Water Heating, Electrical Controls, Domestic Gas Safety and Appliances.

How will I be taught?
A mix of practical and technical training

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via phased dedicated theory tests and practical assessment within our CNWL Assessment Centre and on-site. Students must be available to carry out an additional 10 days of practical assessment in the college during the 2nd year of the course.

What support is available while I am on the course?
You will have access to a personal tutor and an apprenticeship coordinator support you throughout your training. The College offers a comprehensive range of student services, including learning support, language support and guidance.

What will it cost?

If you are 19 and over your employer will be required to contribute towards your course fees.
