Entry Requirements
You are required to have GCSE English and maths at Grade D or completion of an Apprenticeship in the same subject, or an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
Course Duration
2 years.
Skills and Benefits
Throughout the course you will follow a learning plan that sets targets and checks your progress. You will be allocated an expert training advisor, who will guide you during your programme and help you to decide what do after you have finished your training.
Mandatory Units
Tightness test, purge, commission and de-commission gas pipe work up to 35mm 1 ¼ diameter in small natural gas installations Understand how to organise resources within BSE Understand and apply domestic cold/hot wate and domestic central heating system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques Understand and carry out electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems and components Install, commission gas pipe work up to 35mm 1 ¼ diameter in domestic and small commercial premises Specific core installation Understand core gas safety principles for natural gas within domestic building services engineering Maintain gas water heating and wet central heating appliances Install domestic gas water heaters and wet central heating appliances Install, commission, service and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems
Optional Units
There are no optional units on this qualification.
Course Assessment
Through a portfolio of evidence and observations in the workplace, and in some cases there are timed written assessments. You will work towards a QCF, diploma and functional skills where appropriate. You will also be expected to complete the Employer Rights and Responsibilities framework.
