• Selection is by interview. • A positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. • Applications from mature students are welcome. • You will need to attend an assessment day. Plus the following • 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including English, maths and science • completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing Course Content The practical and theoretical subjects will include the fundamentals in building services engineering: • Health and safety in building • Services engineering • Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering • Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing • Common plumbing processes • Cold water systems • Domestic hot water systems • Sanitation • Central heating systems • Drainage systems • Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering. How will I be assessed? Your coursework will be continually assessed through each unit. There is no exam at the end of the course. Progression You can progress from Level 1 to Level 2, both qualifications will improve your prospects of finding employment or apprenticeship training in the plumbing/domestic heating industry. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
