What's it all about?:
If you are considering this course then you will already have successfully completed a level 2 qualification and be working on domestic plumbing to a satisfactory level. Now we will stretch your skills to encompass more comprehensive domestic, commercial and industrial plumbing, along with aspects such as gas appliances and systems. You will learn the theory and get plenty of hands on practice so you can be confident that you are completing the projects competently.

Progression:
Successful completion of the course will enhance your employment opportunities and enable you to progress to NVQ level 3 and management courses.

Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
• four to five* GCSEs at grades A*-C (including English and maths)
• an intermediate GNVQ in a related subject
• a BTEC first diploma in a related subject
• an NVQ Level 2/technical certificate in a related subject
• successful completion of an apprenticeship course
• successful completion of the Gateway/Newstart course
• equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Duration: Two years

On successful completion of this course students will get a recognised level 3 qualification.

Course Overview
What does the course involve?:

This course provides you with training in current plumbing practices - with materials, components and equipment of types that are in current use within the industry. You will undertake practical training and assessments in:
• gas central heating and unvented installation and commissioning
• gas appliance installation and commissioning
• unvented systems
• gas appliance - service procedure
• gas appliance - fault diagnostics
• gas appliance - decommissioning.

Are there any exams?:
To successfully complete this qualification you must carry out practical task assessments in a manner that reflects the actual working procedures employed in the workplace and multiple choice phase tests to demonstrate theoretical understanding.
