Policing (Criminal Psychology), BSc - 2016/17

This innovative programme will not only give you general insight into policing related topics but will also consider why offenders commit crimes with focus on underlying psychological processes. Policing (Criminal Psychology) is one of nine named policing awards that form part of the Policing Suite of programmes. Each programme provides students with a strong and predominant grounding in policing, both conceptually and in applied practice. Each degree will facilitate the provision of the Certificate of Knowledge in Policing (CKP - see below). The Policing Suite provides the opportunity for students to specialise in police/policing-related subjects and enables them to have a more intensive understanding about an area or related aspect of policing that will better match their vocational ambitions. Policing (Criminal Psychology) will provide a critical insight into psychological techniques used by the police to assist with the detection of crime and their theoretical underpinnings of research and application within criminal and forensic psychology, particularly in relation to serious and prolific offending behaviours.
