Polish Beginners level 2

Your Course
This course is aimed at those who have attended Polish Absolute Beginners Level 1, or have already some contact with the Polish language. The grammatical content, (e.g. conjugation of all verbs, all 3 tenses, 4 out of 7 cases etc), combined with new vocabulary will enable students to create their own texts and responses in Polish. After the course, the students should feel quite comfortable about using their linguistic knowledge when in Poland as a tourist.
During this course students will take a short internal assessment in speaking and writing at Beginners' level. This will help to prepare them for the OCR Asset language test will be taken at the end of the first year of study.

Learning Outcomes
The objective of the course is that after the 9 weeks students should be able to:
· In reading - be able to understand more complicated texts, useful for a tourist (e.g.restaurant menus, shop labels, simple tourist brochures, Internet descriptions of places, agendas and itineraries, newspaper ads, etc)
· In listening - be able to understand simple telephone conversations (e.g.about invitations or addresses) announcements (e.g.at the airport) and short news programmes
· In speaking - be able to use Polish in a range of everyday situations (e.g.making, accepting or refusing an invitation, expressing preferences, and shopping.)
· In writing - be able to write more complicated forms of text in both formal and informal language (e.g shopping lists, short letters amd emails, agendas and itineraries).
Your Tutor
Anna Maria Norman is a native Polish speaker with language teaching qualifications acquired at the Jagiellanian University in Poland. She has been teaching both Polish and English for the last 20 years to those attending classes at the Polish Club in Cambridge and is currently preparing a group for GCSE Polish.
Day and time: Thursday 7-9 pm

Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
