Untitled Page Full description

If you’re a talented musician who wants to develop creative skills in composition, improvisation, performance and music technology within the context of popular music, then this degree is for you.

There are many opportunities to take part in live musical performances at Anglia Ruskin venues like our Recital Hall, Mumford Theatre and the Academy, as well as public venues in and around Cambridge, such as the Cambridge Junction, where we have longstanding and productive links. With our weekly performance workshops and individual lessons you’ll be performing and receiving feedback on a regular basis.

Your performance work will be supported by modules covering the social, political and cultural contexts of popular music; you’ll investigate issues in popular music studies, (ethno)musicology and world music, and apply this learning to your practical work in performance, recording and arts management.

Once enrolled on our performance modules, you’ll receive individual instrumental or vocal tuition from a visiting tutor of international repute.

You’ll be able to listen to professional musicians on-campus every week in our lunchtime concert series, as well as attend workshops, masterclasses and lectures by visiting performers, composers and academics.
