About this course
You need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above or a BTEC First Diploma including Level 2 Literacy.

What is the course about?
During the course you will have the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge across a broad range of areas including:
Music Performance, solo and bands.
Music Theory and History
Sound Recording and Production
Instrumental Lessons
Music Technology - sequencing with Cubase, sampling and MIDI.
Composing and arranging.
All BTEC National students will complete a diagnostic first semester to include general performance related skills. These will lead to further certification.
Will I need anything else?
You will be required to have your own instrument or drumsticks (we have 3 drum kits, Amps, PA etc.) as well as leads, strings etc.
How long & often do I attend?
This course is offered as a two year substantial programme and requires attendance of several lectures, practical sessions and workshops per week. You will be required to attend for a minimum of 90%.
How will I be assessed?
For each unit (subject) you will be required to complete 2 assignments and a portfolio of work. The size and format of the assignments will vary according to the subject.
What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of this course you will be able to move into higher education or you may wish to seek employment in the music industry.
