What will you be learning?
PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is now an essential part of any health and safety policy. This fast track course which focuses on the practical aspects of PAT testing is for any employer or employee who wishes to become competent to carry out these tests. During this course you will learn about: The categories or classes of portable appliances that need to be tested; the categories of testing; the appropriate frequency of testing; your responsibilities; record keeping; appropriate labelling of appliances; understanding appliance rating plates: how to visually inspect appliances and inspection of leads, connection, plugs and fuses. There will be practical sessions testing appliances and a focus on problems and pitfalls. To pass this course you will be required to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to safely and appropriately inspect and test an item of equipment and correctly record the results.
