Course Description
PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is the process by which electrical appliances are checked to see if they are safe.

The course follows the requirements of "Code of Practice for In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment."

Health and safety regulations state that when people work with electrical appliances, the appliance MUST be safe. To ensure continual safety, inspecting & testing should be carried out at regular intervals. The interval between tests depends on the type of appliance and the environment in which it is used.

How is the Qualification Achieved ?
City & Guilds of London Institute provides an examination which will comprise of an on-line test of mulitiple choice questions leading to certification on a pass/fail basis.
A prerequisite for the on-line test is that you show competence in testing appliances - this will be taught and assessed during the course.
The qualification gained meets the requirements for operatives who are contracted to carry

You will be qualified to carry out the required inspection & testing of electrical appliances
