Other requirements of the course will be:
Completion of a Teaching Practice Portfolio
Completion of an Individual Learning Plan
All trainees are required to arrange a teaching placement of 200 hours.
How will I learn?
Classroom-based activities include direct teaching, group and individual presentations, research activities, micro-teaching and specialist delivery of certain topics.You will be assessed by a variety of assignments, including essays, reports and presentations. You will also be assessed on your teaching practice through observations.
What else might I want to know?
All trainees will need a Subject Specific Mentor who can support them throughout the course.
This should be a qualified teacher who will also have a Level 3, or above, qualification in the relevant subject area. Ideally this will be a person who works closely with the trainee in the work place.
Mentors will be offered training at South Devon College and will be given guidance on how to carry out their role.
What can I do afterwards?
You could progress on to a Master of Education qualification.
