Course Aims:
To introduce students to the versatile nature and working properties of clay as a creative medium and to gain an understanding of appropriate material and processes through practical experience of the making and glazing of handmade Pottery objects.
Course Content:
Practical demonstrations and assignments provide and introduction to handbuilding, coiling, slab-building, press-moulding, throwing, modelling, surface decoration, colouring techniques and glaze application.
Progression:
The College offers a range of Art and Design courses, including NCFE Level 2 Creative Craft (Pottery).

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.
