Course programme
Practical Photography
students are given instruction in camera functions, studio and location photography, lighting, processing film, darkroom skills, printing techniques and presentation. This course teaches the skills involved in black and white photography.
They work on practical projects interpreting a set theme according to their own ideas, taking photographs outside the college and in the college studio, using the college's printroom and darkroom independently as well as during class. The results are analysed both creatively and technically with the teacher until the student is in control of every step of the process from the original idea in the mind to the finished product in front of the eyes. Resources include a fully equipped darkroom with eight enlargers and a studio with professional flash and tungsten lighting as well as backgrounds.
The College supplies the chemicals and the students supply their own film camera, film and paper.
All our courses can lead to a nationally recognised qualification, although entry is not obligatory.
