What is infant massage?
Infant massage is one of the easiest and most pleasant methods of providing early positive interaction through bonding, trust and relief. Infant massage incorporates nurturing touch, massage and reflexology.

Prerequisites

All participants must have previous qualifications and / or experience in one of the following: massage therapy, bodywork, Anatomy and Physiology, health care such as nurses, health visitors and midwives, childcare and early years practitioners, parents/carers with experience of infant massage.

Assessment

Assessment of the Infant Massage Instructor Diploma take place through:

  • Delivery of a 10 min group session within peer group
  • Observation of infant massage instruction
  • Reflective learning journal
  • Sample lesson plan
  • Individual parent and baby and group case studies with participant feedback
  • Written piece of work on how you will develop infant massage (400-600 words)


Qualification
Diploma in Teaching Infant Massage (Instructor Course)

Equipment needed: Each participant must bring a doll (preferable soft bodied), towel, small blanket and cushion.

Maximum 8-10 participants per group

She is a registered Paediatric Nurse and Health Visitor and has additional qualifications in teaching adult learners.

Julie has many years experience working with and training health professionals, childcare workers and parents. She use a range of teaching methods appropriate to the course and to engage learners in a fun and interesting way.

Julie has extensive experience in using infant massage with families and children within both the hospital environment and community setting. This means she brings experiential knowledge to the Diploma course.
