*You will take this module if you who have successfully completed the NPQH qualification, the headteacher qualification for England. You are not required to be in a headship in order to complete this module, as Post Graduate Certificate/Master programme requirements will have been met.

Optional modules Route one

Candidates must take at least 60 credits from:

  • EDU8033 Investigating Educational Leadership
  • EDU8172 Leadership and Strategic Management
  • EDU8205 Improving practice in coaching and mentoring for teacher development in Modern Foreign Languages or
  • EDU8206 Developing practice in coaching and mentoring for teacher development
  • EDU8217 Investigating collaborative models of teacher development

And candidates must take 40 credits from:

  • EDU8031 Curriculum, pedagogy and assessment as foundations of teaching and learning
  • EDU8133 Critical Reflection on Professional Practice (L1)
  • EDU8225 Foundations of TEL
  • EDU8204 Innovation in Curriculum and Pedagogy through Action Enquiry
Route two

Candidates must choose 40 credits from the following with at least 20 credits from leadership modules

Entry Requirements

A 2:1 honours degree in any subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or international equivalent.

You need to be able to undertake this course whilst working in a professional context. If you have successfully completed a masters level initial teacher education course you may use your credits as the basis for the MEd Practitioner Enquiry.

We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have professional experience in an education-related setting.
