Course Overview
This course is suitable for anyone considering undertaking any of the College's Access courses. It is also suitable for anyone planning to return to study after a time out of education but who is uncertain of the direction they wish to take.
Course Structure
This course runs for five weeks for up to 16 hours a week in the Kingsgate Building. Sympathetic consideration is given to any student who has difficulties with study times.
The course is designed to prepare adults for all College Access courses. Teaching support and advice are provided across a range of subject areas to allow students to improve existing skills and acquire new ones.
Opportunities are provided to sample a variety of Access subject areas together with offering elements of:
- English
- Mathematics
- Word Processing
- Study Skills
Qualification Aims
The course helps to build confidence, and provides students with the opportunity to obtain OCN credits at either Level 1 or 2.
Assessments/Examinations
Students build up a portfolio of work which is submitted at the end of the course.

Registration fee of approximately£35 (but free if you are in receipt of benefit).
