To give students a good basic grounding in jewellery making techniques. An opportunity to make a small collection of work which will culminate in an end of course exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum in Bermonsey. Many of our Alumni have gone on to further their careers with employment not only in London, but further afield in New York and Germany. Suitable for: Anyone who has a serious interest in making a career within the jewellery industry. Ideally you should have four GSCE's at grade C+ including English and Maths. However, exceptions can be made for those who can show ability and commitment in other ways. Potential candidates should attend an open day to confirm that this is the right course for them

Course programme

1st 6 weeks - Basic proceedures - Annealing, working the metal, soldering, marking, measuring, cutting, filing, sawing.

2nd 6 weeks- Applications of the Basic procedures - to include making settings, tool making and wax carving.

3rd 6 weeks- Casting (usually done at a venue outside) - making a master pattern. The final 3-4 weeks are devoted to giving students the chance to create a collection of work, culminating in an exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum in Bermondsey.
