Course programme
The foundation degree in Countryside Management will increase your appreciation and understanding of current issues and developments in countryside management and of the practical techniques involved in the study of the different component disciplines.
You are expected to develop interests in a range of subjects including:
- landscape evolution and interpretation
- agriculture and conservation
- woodland and grassland management
- wetland and coastal management.
The modules you take in Year 1 provide a foundation in these topics alongside developing skills in safe laboratory and field work. Work-based learning is also a major component of your first year. Developing practical skills within industry is key to a successful career in Countryside Management.
In Year 2 you develop your research, data handling and statistical skills alongside topics investigating the management of woodlands, grasslands, wetlands and coasts within a range of environments and from a variety of perspectives.
Successful completion of the foundation degree will allow you to progress to the BSc (Hons) Countryside Management top-up at Bridgwater College.Study modules
