PRE-GCSE SPANISH Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course, other than a willingness to study and to enjoy learning.
Description
This is a thirty week course which aims to develop basic communication skills in Spanish. The main elements of the course will be personal, social and work related topics such as:
· Greetings
· Personal information about yourself and your family
· Hobbies
· Expressing feelings, likes and dislikes
· Travel and tourism
· Shopping and eating out
· Booking a hotel room
Course Content
There are two mandatory units
· Speaking
· Reading
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
This course leads to an NOCN Level 1 Award in Spanish. Work is tutor and peer assessed, and students will collect a portfolio and recordings of completed tasks. This is followed by external verification. There are no formal examinations.
Progression
Students may wish to progress to FCSE (Level 1) or GCSE (Level 2) in a subsequent year.
Materials
Students will need to have a file or ring binder for the collection of notes etc. This will form the portfolio of evidence for external verification. You may be expected to buy a dictionary and a course book. Your tutor will advise early in the course
