Pre-hospital Emergency Anaesthesia is an essential component of safe pre-hospital critical care and retrieval. With the development of national guidelines for pre-hospital anaesthesia and a new sub-speciality competence framework, it is essential that practitioners undertake formal training in this high risk intervention. This two and a half day residential course teaches a safe and effective system for pre-hospital emergency anaesthesia (PHEA) based on the Magpas experience over the last 38 years. The course focuses on the indications for PHEA, the techniques and processes for administering PHEA and the common complications. High fidelity, full immersion human simulation is used throughout the course and the participant numbers are limited to 12 to ensure optimal faculty-instructor ratios.
