Preparation for Employment in Construction Industries

Course Content:

The course consists of four core units:

  • Contributing to Health & Safety of the workplace
  • Handling and Storing Materials & Components
  • Personal Work Skills
  • Carrying Out Operations

The units for Handling and Storing Materials & Components and Carrying Out Operations can be based on the following occupational areas:

  • Bricklaying
  • Plumbing
  • Joinery
  • Painting & decorating

The course is taught as a mixture of practical work and pre-set assignments.

Assessment:

Assessment will be continuous, based mainly on a number of practical assignments, short question/answer papers, computer generated simulations and pre-set assessments at various times throughout the course.
