This short, introductory course is for those who wish to teach in the post-compulsory sector of education (further education, community learning and work-based training). Entry to this course requires a formal application and interview.

What does the course involve?
This award has been designed to provide either pre-service or in-service training for people who teach or train students and/or workers over 19 years of age.
It gives an overview of the factors involved in teaching and learning, including planning lessons and resources, delivering lessons and the assessment of learning. It is assessed by means of a microteach to fellow students and a portfolio.
Participants do not have to have teaching available to do the course. Successful achievement of the award can be used to progress to the Certificate and Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
