It is suitable for those who work or want to work as teachers in the lifelong learning sector, ie further, adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector provided they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach at the appropriate level
About this course
This is a level 3 course and you will be expected to write assignments at this level. A written pre-acceptance task is required to join the course. You must be able to identify the subject (s) you wish to teach at the start of the course. You will also need to be qualified/experienced in the subject(s) you wish to teach

Course programme
The City and Guilds 7303 Level 3 Award provides an introduction to the principles of adult teaching and learning. It is suitable for new teachers in adult and community learning and teachers or trainers in the voluntary sector.
This award covers the Lifelong Learning UK standards for a Level 3 introductory award to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
The sessions will cover the following:
- Introduction to the PTLLS course
- Tutors' roles and responsibilities
- Approaches to teaching and learning
- Planning teaching and learning
- Delivering teaching and learning
- Assessing learning
- Evaluating teaching and learning
- Planning and preparing micro-teaching
- Tutorials as required (these may be booked individually)
- Micro-teaching sessions
- Portfolio building
- Conclusions and action planning for the future
Courses consist of 36 hours' contact time including a 30 minute micro-teach. In addition candidates are expected to undertake a minimum of 30 hours' non-contact time which can include individual tutorial support, developmental activities, research and home study.
To achieve the qualification you must successfully complete both the theory and practice assignments covering all five sections. This includes a micro teaching/teaching practice assessment.
